Hometown Ice Cream

Alexa Fraser was a permanent fixture at the market offering her many wild flavours of homemade ice cream.  When she announced that she was selling her business to pursue her first love of theater and joined the Shaw Festival, many ice cream lovers were sure they would never taste her rich ice cream products again.  In the spring, we were are thrilled to learn that Linda and Fred Lundaro bought Home Town Ice Cream and were planning to return to our market.  Linda and Fred, who own a greenhouse business in Vineland catering to the wholesale cut flower market, thought they could expand their creativity and venture into the world of farmers’ markets and direct sales.  Linda uses several of Alex’s original recipes but has also created some new flavours such as caramelized banana with Nutella swirl, balsamic peppercorn, sour cream lime and a chai latte. She is about to launch a watermelon, lemonade sorbet infused with basil and Dillon distillers vodka.  “My husband and the children (aged 9 and 4) are my taste testers” claims Linda. “Everything is homemade” she states including sourcing local growers for fruit for her ice cream.   Linda does 5 markets including Grimsby, as well as special events like Happening at the Forty, and weddings.  They can be reached at hometownicecream
